Alex Martinez, also known by his tag SHINE, is an international artist from the United States who specializes in graffiti art. He has worked as an illustrator and muralist in Greece and the United Kingdom. It is worth noting that his uncle is none other than Adalberto Martinez, the famous Mexican actor and dancer. Martinez is mainly known for his work in the United Kingdom, particularly in the Notting Hill area of London, where he has a studio. He was commissioned by Madame Tussauds for the Tupac Shakur exhibition, in which he presented works in Wildstyle, as well as his signature spray paint techniques. In 2008, he participated in the Meeting of Styles graffiti event. Martinez has also created community murals in the W11 neighborhood. He organized the first two mobile exhibitions dedicated to graffiti, showcasing works on canvas and plywood panels, as part of the Portobello Film Festival. His mural of Samuel Beckett, located on Blenheim Crescent in London, has been used for book covers and postcards. Martinez spends much of his time working abroad. He has also written about graffiti and urban art under the pseudonym SHINE.
